Parking in the Old Town

In the Old Town, parking is forbidden:

During the summer period, from 1 April to 14 November, 12 midnight to 6 AM, Saturdays, in area I and 12 midnight to 6 AM, Sundays, in area II;
During the winter period, from 15 November to 31 March, 12 midnight to 6 AM on even-numbered dates in area I and 12 midnight to 6 AM on odd-numbered dates in area II.

Tallinn Transport Department hereby advises

that in accordance with Directive No 1.-1/13/184 of the Tallinn Transport Department of 13 November 2013, the start date of the ban on the of parking of motor vehicles (12 midnight to 6 AM on even-numbered dates in parking area I and 12 midnight to 6 AM on odd-numbered dates in parking area II) for the fulfilment of the requirements concerning the street level status noted in subsection 6 (2) of Directive No 28 of the City Government of Tallinn of 13 June 2012 ("Traffic management in the Old Town of Tallinn") shall be changed and the start date for the above ban on the parking of motor vehicles shall be set to be 15 December 2013.

Area I: Falgi tee, Harju tänav, Müürivahe tänav in the section between Harju tänav and Suur-Karja tänav, Kiriku plats, Kiriku tänav, Kohtu tänav, Komandandi tee, Niguliste tänav, Piiskopi tänav, Pikk jalg, Rahukohtu tänav, Rutu tänav, Rüütli tänav, Suur-Karja tänav, Toompea tänav, Toom-Kooli tänav, Toom-Rüütli tänav, Valli tänav, and Vana-Posti tänav.

Area II: Aia tänav, Aida tänav, Bremeni käik, Gümnaasiumi tänav, Inseneri tänav, Kanuti tänav, Kooli tänav, Laboratooriumi tänav, Lai tänav, Munga tänav, Müürivahe tänav in the area between Viru tänav and Munga tänav, Nunne tänav, Olevimäe tänav, Oleviste tänav, Pikk tänav, Rataskaevu tänav, Sulevimäe tänav, Suur-Kloostri tänav, Suurtüki tänav, Tolli tänav, Uus tänav, Vana-Viru tänav, Vene tänav, Viru tänav, Väike-Kloostri tänav, and Väike-Rannavärava tänav.

Under a parking charge concession, a resident in the for-fee public parking area in the Old Town is entitled to park her/his vehicle:

1) On weekdays, six hours before and four hours after the forbidden parking time during the summer or winter periods, and on weekends/holidays, round the clock in the adjacent area during the cleaning of the relevant Old Town area;

2) From 15 November to 31 March, in the for-fee car park at Väike-Rannavärav 6 if parking spots are available.

Motor vehicle traffic in the pedestrian area

Pedestrian area (closed to motor vehicle traffic from 10 AM to 6 AM):

Apteegi tänav, Dunkri tänav, Harju tänav in the area between Kaarli puiestee and Müürivahe tänav, Hobusepea tänav, Kinga tänav, Kullasepa tänav, Kuninga tänav, Lühike jalg, Mündi tänav, Müürivahe tänav in the area between Suur-Karja tänav and Viru tänav 11, Olevimäe tänav in the section between Pika tänav and Olevimäe tänav 4, Pagari tänav, Pikk jalg in the area between Rataskaevu tänav and Lühikese jalg, Pikk tänav in the area between Rataskaevu tänav and Pagari tänav, Pühavaimu tänav, Raekoja plats, Raekoja tänav, Rataskaevu tänav in the area between Dunkri tänav and Niguliste tänav, Sauna tänav, Suur-Karja tänav in the area between Kuninga tänav and Vana-Posti tänav, Vabaduse väljak, Vaimu tänav, Valli tänav in the area between Viru tänav and Pärnu maantee 2, Vana turg, Vanaturu kael, Vene tänav in the area between Vanaturu kael tänav and Munga tänav, Viru tänav in the area between Aia tänav and Vene tänav, Voorimehe tänav, and Väike-Karja tänav.

Motor vehicle access is allowed for those located in the pedestrian area:

1) 6 AM to 10 AM, for services to companies and institutions;

2) For parking spots located on registered immovable properties on application by the owner of the registered immovable property;

3) For buildings – for a short time, in the event of inescapable need or on the basis of a permit issued by the Tallinn Transport Department.

4)  A resident whose residence is located in the pedestrian area according to the Estonian Population Register and whose first and last names are indicated on the registration certificate of the vehicle is entitled to access with her/his vehicle the vicinity of her/his residence for 15 minutes at a time from 6 AM to 10 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM if the start time of parking is recorded on a parking clock and if holding a permit issued by the Tallinn Transport Department, except in Raekoja plats and Viru tänav (in the area between Aia tänav and Vene tänav).

KINDLY WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT EQUIPMENT

Incorrectly parked vehicles shall be subject to enforced towing, and the offenders shall be fined.
