Tallinn makes a big leap in the list of world conference destinations

Tallinn ranked 50th among 1,600 cities in the newly announced ranking of 2017 conference venues by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

Last year, 46 conferences that met the ICCA criteria* were held in Tallinn. There has been 100% increase in the number of events compared to 2016, when Tallinn was in 111th place with 23 conferences held. With the recent results, Tallinn as a destination of association meetings outperforms successful cities such as Kraków, Ljubljana, Gothenburg and Glasgow. The top cities are Barcelona, Paris and Vienna.

Among 162 countries, Estonia is ranked 45th. Estonia as a country improved its rank as well, compared to the 2016 results, when it was ranked 52nd. There were 44 association meetings organised in Estonia in 2016. In 2017, the number had risen to 68.

Estonia is ranked highest among the Baltic States; Latvia and Lithuania are ranked 53rd and 60th, respectively. Finland is ranked 29th, with 159 international association meetings. The top countries in the world ranking are the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.
