Successful conferences and conference ambassadors of Tallinn were acknowledged

Aivar Riisalu, Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, along with the Estonian Convention Bureau and the Tallinn Convention Bureau, acknowledged the conference ambassadors of Tallinn and the successful conferences of 2018.

The Tallinn Convention Bureau and the Estonian Convention Bureau launched the Estonian Conference Ambassador Programme in 2010. The goal of the Ambassador Programme is to bring more conferences to Tallinn by supporting, encouraging, and motivating conference ambassadors. Currently, Tallinn has 104 conference ambassadors – top specialists in their field who wish to bring the conferences of their association or organisation to Estonia.

In 2018, more than 4,100 conference events took place in Tallinn, and 2019 brings multiple large-scale events to Tallinn: JCI World Congress (5,000 delegates), tech conference TNC 2019 (750 delegates), and medical conferences IUSTI-Europe Conference (600 delegates) and ESC E-Health Conference (500 delegates).

The ‘Conference of the Year’ award is to a remarkable conference, which has brought significant benefits to its organisers, the service providers of Estonian conference tourism, and the country as a whole. The 34th EGOS (European Group of Organizational Studies) Colloquium was awarded the title of ‘Conference of the Year’. EGOS Colloquium brought 1,893 delegates from 53 countries, making it the largest scientific meeting ever organised in Estonia.

The city of Tallinn also recognised the 22nd World Congress of AIMS (The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), which took place with 307 participants from 55 countries at the same time as the Tallinn Marathon. The city praised the organisers of the Tallinn Marathon as an inspiration to all organisers of large sporting events. The World Congress of AIMS and the Tallinn Marathon proved that along with major events, cohesive international conferences of the same field can also be organised in Tallinn. The conference was successful and raised international recognition not only for the Tallinn Marathon but for the city of Tallinn and all of Estonia.

At the awards ceremony for the conference ambassadors of Tallinn, the nominees for the title of the most innovative conference solution – TalTechDigital Vision Conference, Launching Our Digital Future, and Mindvalley U City Campus – were also acknowledged.
